Our Native Ministries department serves hundreds of Native Americans throughout the northwestern United States. It develops resources to help reach non-Christian tribes, directs evangelistic meetings and provides consultation to regional leaders.

We offer a Cross Cultural Seminar, free of charge, to any group in the Pacific Northwest wishing to do Evangelistic Outreach to Native American People. There are four parts to the class.

• THE HISTORY AND ATTITUDES OF THE NATIVE PEOPLE
• UNDERSTANDING THE NATIVE MIND
• HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH NATIVE PEOPLE
• HOW TO START AND MAINTAIN A NATIVE WORK.

This is Bible Correspondence for Native American people – total of 30 lessons with answer sheets. Purchasing the whole set is $6.00 and we suggest delivering them to the student on a one to one basis – correcting the lessons yourself (a key is included with the answers for the answer sheet). Subject outline is especially modified for Native People and the reading level is also suitable for children 10 years of age and older. There are enrollment cards available for use at Pow Wow’s and other native gatherings. The lessons can also be sent out free of charge, two at a time, from the VOP through the enrollment cards to areas where there are not grounded Seventh-day Adventist Bible Workers to help the student. This is a wonderful series of Bible studies on DVD presented by Host and story teller Monte Church. Everything presented is slanted towards Native people and all others who participate in producing these DVD’s were also Natives. There are 26 finished with immediate plans to do more.

The first 17 titles and subjects are:

1. The Book of Heaven emphasizes the importance of the Bible.
2. Gathering of the Nations takes a look at the 2nd coming of Christ.
3. Footprints to the Future examines the signs of the times.
4. A New You! Explores rebirth and how God recreates you as a new person.
5. Remember teaches us why we should respect the Sabbath and how to honor it.
6. The Sleep of Death answers the question, “What happens when you die?”
7. The Bondage Breaker stresses the importance of overcoming addictions.
8. Just a Prayer Away teaches us how to pray and why we should do it.
9. Protecting Our Heritage explains how to protect our relationship with God.
10. The Land With No Fences focuses on what Heaven will be like and who will be li there.
11. The Great Spirit tells us about the Holy Spirit and what He does for our lives.
12. Our Trail of Hope talks about hope God offers during times of suffering and despair such as those endured on the Trail of Tears.
13. Called to Serve demonstrates how everyone can share the love of God by serving others.
14. Our Creator’s Care explains why healthy food choices are essential for overall health.
15. The Gathering Place discusses the importance of fellowshipping with like believers, such as in a church setting.
16. God’s Scouts relates how we can all become members of God’s family by accepting His blanket of righteousness.
17. Keep the Home Fires Burning talks about the importance of marriage and what it takes to keep the husband and wife happy.

These make excellent Bible Studies with Native People, using one DVD at a time. They are also good for church services with Native audience. The quality of these DVD’s have won six Hollywood Angel Awards for their creativeness and effectiveness in subject presentation.
